We at The Exodus Road are committed to financial transparency and administrative leanness. 

The Exodus Road is officially a nonprofit corporation registered in the state of Colorado, and we utilize a fiscal conduit or “parent” organization for our tax exempt status. Our parent organization is New Horizons Foundation, located in Colorado Springs. This non-profit accounting agency exists to empower smaller nonprofits to operate by extending their tax-exempt status to qualified organizations like The Exodus Road.  This method saves us money which would be spent on administrative costs.  All financial gifts are run through their office and receipted accordingly. The Exodus Road, as a project of New Horizons Foundation, must provide detailed accounting of funding and annual budgets for operations which must be approved by their board of directors.

Because most of our field staff and stateside staff are volunteers or supported humanitarian aid workers, we are able to keep our administrative costs low, enabling a large majority of our funding to go directly to the work of rescue.

When we launch campaigns for specific projects (like this purchase of a covert camera), we earmark those funds to go directly to the stated project. When donations are given to the general fund, those funds fuel the organization’s monthly budget, including contract salaries for national investigators, operation expenses for investigations, the purchasing of equipment or field resources, grant funding to member organizations for approved projects or cases, stateside marketing projects, and administrative staff salaries.
